Can over advertising actually hurt a candidate?

I live in Florida and have spoken to people who say that they are getting so sick of Obama’s advertising here they are getting turned off by it. Every other commercial is an Obama commercial. I get Obama mail every single day. Could his over-advertising here hurt him on election day?
